Beauty is a pain, or so we have always been told, but it doesn’t have to be! There is one thing that we can all agree on though…

The beauty industry is an amazing place to be. Once you started on this journey I guarantee that you will never look back.

But there is a dark side to working in beauty-specifically working with nails. Aside that can be hard to deal with.

That is the toll that it can take on your body.

The sore backs, sore shoulders, sore wrists and hands. You are prone to developing carpal tunnel, RSI and so many other injuries. We just did not see it coming.

It is the one dark side of our chosen career that nobody warned us about. and none of us are prepared for.

Make no mistake, when it creeps up it can be devastating! It can destroy our dreams and halt our career at a moments notice without a single apology.

It has the potential to send us into a dark abyss of depression and anxiety.

This is a problem that I have personally struggled with too.

I have fibromyalgia so I already struggle with chronic pain, and I also have carpal tunnel. The combination of these two conditions, have lead me down a pretty dark path. Some days it has been hard to force myself to keep pushing through.

The years of being a tech have indeed taken a toll on my body and soul. I used to work in my little salon 50 hours a week, sometimes more. I was fully booked -and I loved every minute of it.

However, my body didn’t…

I woke up most days with pins and needles in my hands. It was getting harder and harder to work with the amount clients that I had.

Eventually I had no choice but to halve my client list. I was lucky though. I found a way that I could still work in the only industry that I had ever truly loved.

That was by teaching, you see, I am an educator as well so I started teaching more. But it occurred to me that not everyone has something to fall back on. And the sad part is, mine isn’t even an isolated tale.

So many of us nail technicians are plagued by these exact same issues. We need to come up with a way to work smarter, so that the toll on our bodies will be greatly reduced.

I am hearing new stories almost daily and sadly no one is exempt.

Just recently I caught up with one of my close friends for lunch, and she is also a Nail Technician.

Nadine was normally bubbly and happy go lucky. She was one of these people that could lift your spirits just by being around them.

Usually you would hear her before you saw her as well. 😂 But on this particular day, she wasn’t herself. She was quiet.

That was the first red flag that there was something going on with her.

As we took our seats at the table we went through the usual greetings, you know how it goes… How are you? How’s the family, How’s work? And so on and so forth.

I could tell there was something wrong, I had known her for years…

I could tell when her answers were rehearsed.

I put it down to stress, they were in the middle of moving house so I figured that she just needed a break. After all, moving is literally the worst – Am I right? I don’t think there is anyone on this earth that is immune to the stress that comes with relocating.

When the waitress came over we ordered wine, surely that would help her de-stress.

As we waited, chatting away, I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something wrong with my friend.

My suspicions were about to be proven correct.

As Nadine picked up her wine glass, she winced in pain and immediately dropped her glass.

The wait staff hurried over and helped us clean up the spilled wine. Poor Nadine, she was so embarrassed! She explained that for months now she had been having problems with her hands and wrists.

What had started off as some minor tingling and a bit of pain at the end of the day, had now turned into full blown Carpal Tunnel.

My heart went out to her, after all, I know this awful condition only too well.

It ravages your career, stopping you dead in your tracks.

It does not heal nor go away.

The only thing that you can do is have surgery.

But how? How are we supposed to do that? We need our hands! without the use of our hands we can’t work at all.

Sadly there is no way around it either. So most techs end up putting off surgery, and the condition progressively gets worse.

She explained to me that she was constantly in pain. It was majorly slowing her down at work as well and she was now loosing customers. In addition to the pain she was experiencing, she was also suffering from weakness in her hands. This meant that she was struggling to grip her brushes and files properly. She was constantly dropping them.

Some of her clients were no longer happy with the shaping of their nails. That was a hard pill for her to swallow, she has always been a perfectionist. But when the pain is so bad, how is it even possible to get your shapes and finish filing even? Often by the time you get up to filing the second hand the weakness and pain can be pretty intense.

In actual fact it came as no surprise to me that it had caused pretty major anxiety for her. It was also creating problems within her relationship.

It was clear to me that this had set off a domino effect that seemed to be going from bad to worse.

My heart broke into a million pieces as one of my dearest friends explained to me that she was now staring down the barrel of unemployment.

Sometimes life could be so unfair!

I knew I had to help her, But how?

That was the million dollar question.

Nadine and so many others don’t have teaching to fall back on, so the salon is plan A, B & C.

It is quite the predicament.

But in spite of all of the challenges that Nadine was facing

  • Pain
  • Numbness
  • Waking up with pins and needles
  • Constantly dropping things
  • Depression & anxiety
  • Loosing income.
  • Weakness
  • Impact on her family relaionships
  • Stress

She was a fighter, so it went without saying that she wasn’t about to go down without a fight.

We had to do something – and quick, before she lost her whole career. Luckily I knew just the thing.

I told her to meet me at the salon the next day…

Keep reading beauties! This is when it gets good 😍

Since the majority of her problem was caused by the back & forth motion of shaping and finish filing… All we had to do was eliminate most of the filing!

Easy… read on.

I wanted to introduce her to Flexi Press Tips by Missu.

We take a full coverage tip and turn it into a flawless gel enhancement. No finish filing and no shaping.

How good is that!

It is one of the most genius systems that I have ever come across!

Oh and that is not even the best part! My favourite thing about them is how fast they are to apply.

Your clients can be in and out within an hour; even with a shape change and nail art thrown in!

I have already seen them have such a positive impact on so many nail technicians. So I just knew that they were going to be the answer to Nadines prayers.

Straight after lunch, I stopped by my salon and prepared for my impromptu class the next day.

As I laid out everything that we were going to be using, I mulled over the days events. But I was feeling positive and I couldn’t be more

excited! I was 100% confident that this was exactly what she needed in order to get back on her feet.

So the next day, as promised I went through everything that she needed to know.

I taught her the best application techniques, and I explained what she needed to do to avoid certain trouble shooting issues.

One of the many things that I love about this system is how easy it is to pick up.

But like anything, there are a few tips ‘n’ tricks that you need to know that will make the transition easier. What to look out for, what can go wrong, if something does go wrong, how to fix it etc.

This is actually the exact reason why a few short months later we launched the Flexi Press Tip Blueprint.

I wanted to save everyone the pain that comes from having to troubleshoot.

So what sort of ‘transformation‘ can you expect?

I explained to Nadine, that because of the specific problems that she was having with RSI & Carpal Tunnel, the last thing that she needed was

to be doing a whole heap of filing.

And this goes for any of you who may be suffering with the same thing too.

By using an E-file in conjunction with Flexi Press Tips, you save yourself the unnecessary wear and tear on your hands.

You will actually lengthen your career span, because you are cutting out all unnecessary filing.

And the best part….

It saves you a hell of a lot of time! All of a sudden you can easily double your workload… but don’t panic, It is going to feel great being

busy with work that you love, and you won‘t feel overworked because it is such an easy transition.

So what used to take a minimum of an hour and a half is now taking around 45 mins.

And you know what that means…. You get a pay rise! Congrats! You’ve just doubled your income! Woohoo!

Can you guess what else is going to happen?

Because Flexi Press Tips look so utterly perfect when they are on, you are going to become more in demand than you ever thought possible!

All of these things are great, But there is one more thing to look forward to… and this one my loves feeds your soul!

You reignite your passion for nails!

You remember why you fell in love with nails in the first place!

Being a tech is more than just a job. It’s a way of life, and it gets into our blood.

Once you are back in the salon doing what you love, you will be complete again.
